The issue i have with the opinions of players like JJB and Wilkin is that they were bang average players in the best teams. Were they really any better than Kirmo, Ashurst or Tanginoa for example. If either of them had played at Wakefield rather than Leeds/Saints they wouldn't get near the jobs that they have now!
Sky's obsession with having forwards or wingers analysing the games is profoundly odd. Dont get me wrong a forwards view is great, but give me a half backs opinion anyday.

JJB wasn't the glory man but there were plenty who could take his place if he was below par. He did the basics exceptionally well consistently.

Wilkin had skills. He may have been a bit if a grub at times but he was significant in his own right. He just wasn't Sculthorpe.
