| If I take off my Trinity hat and put on my rugby league hat, I would go for a ten-team league and increase the salary cap. One of the problems we have at the moment is that the stars of the game frequently go to Aus; to test themselves against the best and for more money. Take away some of the cash incentive and then make the game better here, by being more competitive, and as a game we will produce more stars.
Let's be honest with ourselves: do you think any fan in St Helens or Wigan or Warrington looks forward to the visit from Wakey? And what about the players? It's just a blip until the next competitive game, and sometimes we benefit from that. The view from anyone outside Wakefield is that we don't bring much to the party and never have.
A sixteen-team is a non-starter. The money-share is too small for everyone and the talent pool isn't there. The fact that we may be left out after the end of the first season is down to us, for poor recruitment, because as long as we finish tenth or higher, we're in. By that point, the stadium may be on the way to completion and we may begin to grow as a club. Until we perform on the field, however, we won't be in it.
A conference system would be more ideal, as there is a prospect of more derbies. Even the top clubs might get sick of endless Wigan/Saints, etc, but then again, if there is a lot riding on every game, maybe not. But what happens when that doesn't improve things? Eight-teams?

| So it seems that SL club's have come to an agreement on this today, for now:
Super League clubs have voted in favour of retaining a 12-team competition next season, meaning promotion and relegation will go ahead as planned.
Clubs met again today to discuss the way forward for Super League with several proposals on the table, including expanding to 14 teams for the 2022 campaign.
However, Rugby League Live understands an agreement has been reached that will see the competition stay as it is, for next season at least.
There remains a strong appetite for two top divisions of 10 in 2023, although how that would be decided remains up in the air.
The immediate impact is on the bottom of Super League and the top of the Championship.
As planned, the Championship will run a top six play-off system that will conclude with the Million Pound Game to determine which club will replace the bottom side in Super League in 2022.

When they do decide whatever restructuring plan to use, I really do hope it works for the game as a whole. The state of the game at the moment is at the lowest I’ve ever seen. We, as a sport are in the last chance saloon. Just make option anyway.

| So after several meetings they’ve voted for the system that they previously thought wasn’t good enough (which is why they had the meetings in the first place) and the same one that Sky thinks isn’t producing enough good games. How very Rugby League.

Utter crap then, basically more of the same next season till they can work a why of how to get out of the next thing and then I really pray that Sky pull the plug because they have already said what is out there now is garbage, all the clubs currently in Superleague are doing is trying to keep as much of the money for themselves, hence how Leigh got shafted when they came up to replace Toronto. The greed of the top clubs will eventually kill the sport sending it back to part time.
