So we only have one fullback on the books, no competition then, just Max? A bit strange from a poster who reckons five props are not enough when there are only four spots available depending on the team formation. You seem to think we need at least 6-8 props so surely three FB's is reasonable, especially as two can play numerous other positions. If Jowitt got injured early doors and we didn't have another FB you'd soon be complaining and it's not a position where we have any Academy players ready to run.
So, I would suggest you've already seen the second full-back just signed, Lee somebody, with Hampshire as belt and braces.
At the moment Max is No1 and I hope it stays that way but that's surely down to Max and how he performs. The club owes him a chance but he has no divine right to play just because he's a youth product. If his match form or training slips or he gets injured and Gaskill steps in and is better then that's tough, but that's how good teams are made.
Don't be surprised early season if CC plays both, I'd be annoyed if he didn't, I want to see the best FB playing, and if that's Jowitt great, if no he's still a useful player to have. CC has one job and that's to field the best team we have with a game plan that works if it works better with Gaskill then so be it, there is room for compassion but not sentiment, the best player plays. Strange anyone should see it otherwise as CC is often accused of having favourites, or is Max not included?
