The knee in the back could be argued about but no one spotted it on the field at the time and until Sky Sports mentioned it I hadn't seen it either. Did anyone on here see it at the time? Even without that we had enough chances to win the game against a very average Hull team but we didn't take them. It was a much more positive performance than the last couple of league games and the players seemed to be wanting to play for each other so I hope that continues throughout the season

How many times have you seen way, way, less contact and a penalty given to the defending side.
In most games you cant even breath on the FB (or Centre) and a penalty is given to the defending side.
Genuine attempt ? probably
Fair attempt ? never

For me it was a poor call.

Olpherts effort was a no try in every situation other than the ridiculous rule we have where the VR has to find concrete proof that the refs decision is wrong!

That said I think the replays showed Olpherts had clearly lost the ball yet he still got the try

There was a similar video ref call in one of the Aussie games the other week where the attacking player clearly made contact with the defender as they both jumped for the ball and I said that it was definitely "no try" as he contacted the defender, which was clear to see, but the video ref clearly stated that as both players were clearly challenging for the ball that contact was allowed and that it was a fair try. I guess the same rule applies here ??

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... we need to adopt the "oonion" rule where the ref passes the decision to the video ref and simply says "Try or No Try", then that way the decision is based purely on the video footage and not having to find a reason to overturn the original guesswork from the on-field official !!

You just cannot lead with your knees, I am amazed no official saw it. Especially the video ref who saw it numerous times.

Agree with what you're saying but it would appear that it IS classed as a "fair challenge" if both players are genuinely contesting for the ball, which they both were
