Great rule this, the games i've watched so far have really speeded up play the ball, if brought in here tho' I fear Trin would hardly touch the ball.

Definitely speeds the game up, when you’re lungs and heart are trying to bust out of your chest after a couple of restarts and constant defending I should hope that teams will twig on and clean up the ruck.

Any rule that stops the whistle being blown and helps speed up the game gets my approval

Looks great to me and will suit teams who like to play a fast open game. McBanana has spoken against iy though which says a lot about Catalans style of play.

It does speed game up and i quite like it but i think if you are in crowd and a lot of noise going on you may not hear hooter go and wonder how many ptb a team are going to have

They have already thought of a benefit in defence by giving away another six usually after the first tackle to allow them to reset their defensive line by laying on. This is appearing to be the case regardless of the area of play but think of the benefit if you are defending your line knowing that you won’t face a penalty and just lose one tackle.

You're right, but I think the benefits overall outweigh the negatives.

I like the rule, because I think it's being used where the laying-on isn't quite enough for a penalty but obviously slowing it down. You don't want refs blowing for penalties all the time but a quick punishment for being too slow seems to work.

its made the game over here so much better to watch.
However its taken 3 rounds for the players to push the boundaries and last weeks games have been slower.

The refs boss has come out this week and said they will not tolerate this and players will be sent to the sin bin - so this weeks games could be interesting.

I like it. The play the balls are as they used to be. Hate the amount of wrestling that goes on nowadays. Still, Chesters wrestling room might have to be put to another uses. (Well, I presume that was it's use)

it has bought the ball playing small forwards back into the game .
