Crowther went ok, got through his tackling. Took a knock and went off for a head test IIRC.

Never went ok. Crowther is your ultimate steady developer. He’s not an automatic choice just yer imho but I reckon he will be one day.
Comparing players isn’t generally fair but in this case it is. A few years ago Crowther was totally eclipsed by Batchelor who looked a world beater. Now Crowther looks the better prospect. There is time for Batchelor to kick on but he needs to because there is a lot of competition in that back row and my money is now on Crowther.
For now though a fit Arona trumps both of them.

| Quote TrinityIHC="TrinityIHC"Yeah I was a bit "meh" when we signed J Wood but he's been great. Ferocious tackler and like a trufflepig when he goes for the line. From what Ive seen so far, definite upgrade on Randell'"
Harsh on Randall I’d say, took the brunt of the attack in the first half of games so woody could exploit the tiring defences .Thought as a team we were at our most productive with this combo, now we have woody up first and so far not as affective with big men running at him in the first half’s.No getting away from his defence so far, would like to see Them swap around and him out in first half were his defence would be an advantage and see if it helps woody’s game.

Think Randell got quite a bit of unfair flack by some. Granted, I dont think we quite got the best out of him. I think having such a good debut, and early games, couldn't maintain it. Also had rotten luck with injuries during his time with us. These weren't little niggles, these were serious ones.

My only criticism of Randell was the needless penalties he gave away that put us on the back foot. Just two that spring to mind where the opposition scored off the next set were a spear tackle at Cas just after Fifita had opened the scoring giving them the yards and then similar at London in that opening game when we were something to nil up. Having him and Kirmond on the pitch at the same time was frustrating as hell.

Oh yeah I dont think Randell was bad for us and appreciate what he did in terms of the hard work, but I just think so far JW is better at it, hits harder and more of a threat near the line.

Must agree with that Kettykat.

| Woods no way as good as Randel . He could play 80 mins if asked .So allowing forwards to have better rest . And faster of the mark

Couldn’t agree less, Woody is the more talented player imo. Wood is as tough as old boots even though his boy band appearance states the opposite. Funny how Randell, now that he has left is gaining reputation he never had whilst at the club.
Truth is that after a stunning start Randell was fairly ordinary. He’d have been referred to as a ‘journeyman, had he been British.
Very Trinity that he is now being used to beat down players who have offered the club far far more over the year, one of those being Wood.

Thought that Randall and Wood complimented each other really well.
Yes, Randall suffered from having such a great debut, those 2 try's at Salford were superb. However, before his first injury, he was offering plenty but, never really seemed to recover his form when he came back.
Maybe this was just his own form suffering or, maybe it was the majority of the side that had dropped off a bit in form.
Having said that, Wood is Mr Consistency and has been for a number of seasons.
I thing that Josh Wood is an excellent player too, just as it is with some of our other forwards, he seems to be an improvement on what we had and he seems to hit really hard in defence. He doesn't look to have the same "scoot" as Kyle Wood but, he's doing pretty well so far.

I think you are both mixing up your Woods.
The only problem with Randall for me was when he wasn't on the field. He clearly played with injuries too when we needed him.
When he played injury free he was a significant impact on the game. Big in defence and had a lot of speed in his game too.
Josh Wood will be good I think but he has development in him yet.
Kyle Wood I like a lot and is under rated he's just a different style to the other two. He can do the defence but when he does it takes something away from the rest of his game so better to have someone taking the heat first.
