In broader terms and in respect of his employment - it is of course the right of any individual to hold certain views and within legal limits, express them; it is also the right of an employer to have certain values around inclusivity and diversity, and expect their employees to abide by them - when they don't, that employee can legitimately be denied a role, or removed from one they already have. In RL, I would expect the RFL and SL to have clear policies, for clubs to mirror them, and use them to ensure that players and ambassadors of the sport are operating within those policy parameters, regardless of their personal beliefs. Folau has demonstrably failed to do that, but has been given a job at Catalans anyway - which suggests that they don't have a policy, don't abide by the policy of the governing body, and/or only use the policy for people who aren't any good; and it certainly demonstrates that they don't give a damn about their LGBT players, staff, supporters and sponsors - all of which is reprehensible.
I hope his abhorrent views make his time in SL intolerable, and he is sent home with his tail between his legs; if he wants to wang on about gays and adulterers, let him do so to his congregation of fellow slaves, who have abrogated their freedom of thought to an ancient book, made up by people with the express intent of controlling the population.'"
By definition members of Pakistani grooming gangs as you describe them, are predatory paedophiles whereas I don't think that's quite the same for the Church of England.
Does that qualify as a point of difference? Or were you only asking knuckle draggers? |

Yes, just as there are millions of Pakistani men who aren't grooming young girls.
Bren appeared to be asking where the mob were, trying to deal with the Christian paedophiles etc. He certainly wasn't defending the stuff going on with the grooming gangs. |

Just as there are millions of Pakistani men who aren't involved in grooming gangs; do you see?
It was actually just an aside to a wider point, that organised religion - regardless of its favourite mythological being - has no moral authority on issues of sex and sexuality; so quite why nutjobs like Folau feel qualified to pass judgement on LGBT people, is beyond me. |

Have you been practicing that response or did you cut it out and save it for a rainy day.
In more simple terms, I couldnt give a toss if someone is black, white, green, grey, wears a uniform, tracksuit or a dog collar. If they have sexually assaulted or groomed kids, they should be dealt with accordingly - hope that's ok with you and we seem to have drifted some distance from the thread so, lets get back to where we were, if that's ok with you ? |
