I don't think Carter will sack Chester, its not his style and is understandable for the decent job Chester has done over the past 3/4 seasons. However, if he were to resign who exactly are people expecting to take the reigns. Talk of Demetriou is fanciful, think Dickens or Gilmour and you will be a little closer to home.
