Quote: Highlander "With the benefit of hindsight, I think Kirmond should have gone to Bulls when Kear went there. "Leader of men" I think Kear has described him as - he knew that's what the Bulls (relatively) young squad needed.
I know Kear tried to get him - bit like Webster, P/T training, develop your off-field interests, easier on the body when your career has taken such a physical toll, but Wakefield wanted him and that was his decision. I agree, he looks physically shot now.'"
People really do have a short memory. Kirmond was always going to stay this year whether he was up to it or not, It was mentioned at the start of the season he would be a bit part player this season and he is on a reduced deal to reflect that (Unfortunately the number of injuries we have had has led to him having to play a lot more this year).
It is his testimonial season and IMO he deserved a deal out of principal for all those years he stuck by us when he could of had his pick of clubs on a lot more money - As I say, people really do have a short memory and seem to forget that.
I usually don`t agree with giving a player a deal based on circumstances like this, but I think in this situation he has earned it over the years, he stuck by the club in its darkest day and has always been that player that gives his all and that is clear to see, now the shoe is on the other foot some fans want to throw him out like an old toy.
