Brough is completely shot, if he wasn't Hudds wouldn't be getting shut - also don't think he fit's in the club ethos these days - normally I go along with who the coaching staff want but if we went for Brough I personally think it would be a dreadfull signing.

They got shut of Grix and he has done a decent enough job for us over the past few seasons.
I would take Brough on a 1 year deal tbh as long as we were not reliant on him as first choice, his game management is still better than anything we currently have and is probably still one of the best in the league.

Couldn’t agree more. He’s lost the pace he had that made him dangerous with the ball in hand, his passing game has gone way downhill and his goalkicking is nowhere near as reliable as it used to be. His short kicking game is still ok but everybody knows whats coming with him and he is easy to defend against these days. And thats without throwing in the point that he’s poision in the dressing room. I hope the rumours are wrong and we steer well clear.

Well I wouldn't, Grix wasn't past it, Brough is overweight and no longer has any pace - we are supposed to be going forward not backwards which is what signing Brough would be - like Finn he needs to drop to the Championship or perhaps London,
Have you ever met Brough? I have and he's gobby and aggressive to his team mate, personally I found him course even for a rugby player (that's the treputation they have) - this is just about acceptable when you are at the top of your game, he no longer is, he would be hugely antagonistic to the other players which is almost certainly the reason Hudds are getting rid.

Agreed - with both; he's yesterday's man.

No question that he was better 5 years ago than he is now but, he would bring an excellent kicking game and some experience on closing games out, just as he has at Shudds.
On the downside, discipline and fitting into the tight knit group at BV.
Brough needs to be top dog and running the game and is prone to chuck the teddy out of the cot when he doesn't get his way.
I'd still put him a long way in front of Finn, who was our starting 7, last season and this (until Hampshire got the gig).

| Nope. Not for me.
There is no doubt he is a good player but he is on his way down.
When we got Grix and Finn we bought good players at the end of their careers with great attitude and leadership who would bring a young team on. They did exactly that. Broughy is not that kind of player.
In addition, what about all the talk of giving Hampshire a shot? His goal kicking is better than Brough now. His speed certainly is and might be faster than when Brough was at his best too. It's certainly close. He has Finn in the backroom being a mentor and coach.
If Brough already has a poor attitude, what's he going to be like when he isn't first choice every time? I'd rather sign Reynolds which is rumoured or even Mellor for good competition without egos.

| As if anyone wouldn't have Brough on a 1 year deal. Still a quality player and a kicking game is something we have lacked immensely this season. I'd love him back at Belle Vue for a season. We've got the culture at the club for him to thrive in.

Exactly this. Would be like a better Finn imo.
