| Hats off to WMDC, 88M and YCP - they've played a blinder here; they've used the void created by the silence from WT and the Trust, to win the argument in the court of public opinion. This will be hard to come back from in terms of winning support from anything but the tiny minority of the citizens of Wakefield who read this board - the club now being portrayed as not only intransigent and expecting something for nothing, but irresponsible for selling tickets to a stadium they have no agreement to use.
Comprehensively outmanoeuvred - like Tom Johnstone running round, over and through the entire Shudds team.

Sorry Bren but that's plain wrong - t's a short term gain thats all - as Monty said you can lose every battle so long as it's not the last one because the last one wins the war. Trinity have a history of that.
Also you can't have it both ways. The other day you were saying the Wakefield public didn't care as regards this issue - so in what way has that changed?

Keeping their powder dry. Taking legal advice. Working away behind the scenes.
You get the picture.

A smaller possibly 4g community facility, 5 a-side piches etc would take up much less space and as such cost much less to run. It would open up the site for extra development to bring the cash in. The individual organisations that used them would pay for the privilage and the rent covered that way as happens in other facilities of that nature.
As for the tickets yes they would be transferable but given they've have been sold under the guise of playing at Belle Vue should that not be the case then a refund would have to be offered. I doubt many would take them up on it but it would only be right and proper to make the gesture.

Correct. I know it's frustrating for people but after 12 years of fighting do they not think those involved have not learned a trick to two.
The Trust members and the Trinity BOD are not stupid people and unlike Box are only fighting on a single issue. We have far more time to get things right than he and his cronies do.
They are just fobbing people off whilst we are building a case - which would people prefer, cheap soundbites or well thought out actions?
Funny thing is I'm more relaxed about our prospects than ever before because at last it's heading for a showdown. A showdown that if we win will get us what we want - even Box cannot dodge a final binding legal judgement. He cannot allow this because it would mean his Council was operating illegally which in turn would see him and his cabinet sacked and the Council taken under Central Government control. If that was the option he would soon find the money and the will - he's calling our bluff.

| For all those that find this a bit worrying take comfort from this.
This press release looses total credibility as soon as it mentions Yorkcourt will become financially involved.
That lot could have bought the stadium and Superbowl prior to 88G and did all they could to avoid doing so. If the scheme is to rely on anything from them, its already dead.
In fact don't read this press release as worrying news, its actually quite comforting because its sheer desperation indicates how worried the council really are.

But as PB has said the stadium build relies on funding from Yorkcourt. Even a win in court, which is far from guaranteed, will not result in them building a stadium at Newmarket or anywhere else, it will just mean the land up there won't be developed and in all likelihood be returned to greenbelt. To try and flog it to another developer willing to shell out £10-12 million out of their profits for a stadium build, planning costs, plus the land already used for the freezer is unlikely to happen, especially in any kind of timescale that gives us a chance of survival. It might screw Box up which would be very nice indeed, but will we get a stadium out of it? Nah.
