| Quote vastman="vastman"Your entitled to your opinion - however you're not entitled to lie.
Nobody on here has ever called him a world class centre or suggested he fits the 'great' category - the need for you to state such a thing proves a point, at least on this issue you've just made an utter fool of yourself, does that not tell you something?
'"
Merely trying to point out that he elicits extremes of opinion and there must be a reason for that. And some rave about him on here. They do in this very thread and have on the many other occasions every time this tedious debate revives itself. If he actually was good enough we wouldn't be having it. Let's see how long it is before a Lyne blooper costs us; yes he may have scored a decent try in the same game. This is the kind of player he is. I don't think he has a very good footballing brain or awareness of what is going on in the match.
Anyway, I'd get some anger management sessions booked if I was you and maybe the ability to understand a little artistic licence and hyperbole being used to make a point

| Quote vastman="vastman"Give it a rest will you and have pop at someone else, he was asking for it in his actual post! and he got it - we are all functioning adults on here so I'm sure he's big enough and ugly enough to fight his own corner or am I missing something.
I realise you're a mod as we all do but are we really in such a controlled environment that we can't express ourselves as relatively tamely as that?
No need to ban me just tell me and I'll not bother posting - Maybe it's me and I'm out of step with this particular forum which you now clearly run, I accept that, you win some you lose some - I'm not sulking trust me but if this is how it's going to be I'd rather not bother and retire the "Vastman" legend with some dignity.
Thanks'"
Vasty, you post some great points on here and many of us like reading them and discussing them, but if you start the name calling it will carry on through the thread and no one will then enjoy posing on it any more. It's as much for your benefit as anyone else's.
I'm not the only mod and there is no 'running' the forum, just moderating the extremes.
Go back and check your posts. More than 50% are either name calling or arguing about something not related to the thread. You get a lot of leeway but that is too much. Reign it in and we'll all get along just fine.

| Well said Pop Tart.
I sometimes refer to this as the "Vastman Forum" rather than the "Wakefield forum" because that is how it feels at times. I see a very sensitive poster who at times makes great posts then other times takes things very personally or is on a crusade to impose his view.

| Reece Lyne for me is simply a confidence player in the same ilk as what Peter fox was, creating an inconsistent player, though fox had an outstanding season or two. He's frustrating because he has the physical attributes to create a good solid centre like a Watkins or Atkins. One thing I have noticed is that he has lost that bit of pace, at one point I'd pray for him to get the opportunity to break, but recently seems to get run down, though that may be due to him bulking up from when he first came. Realistically though if he was everything we wanted him to be he would probably not be with us very long as quality British centres are a rare commodity. What's more I wish Reece all the best for the forth coming season and hope he can finally find that consistency.

| I agree here Pat, I'm a Cas fan but stuck up for him on here in his early days. He had the physique and raw pace that no amount of training will give to a slow player. His skills gradually improved but like you I thought he lost some pace last season. Could this be some thing to do with the training methods as it was very noticeable last week how easily Rangi ran down BJB as well.
Reece has always reminded me a bit of McGillvary at Shudds and I wonder if he would be a better winger than centre.

Think we have tried him on the wing but to no provail. Boxing day perfectly highlighted Reece for me. He made great breaks but then fluffed 2/3 tries. Think I heard when he was younger most teams throughout super league and NRL were after his signature (think I read it on here).

| I think Reece has all the physical attributes to be a top notch centre, but he seems to lack conviction in what he does on the rugby pitch. The biggest problem for me is that he doesn't seem to read the game very well in defence and frequently makes bad plays in defence. Cats exploited this in the first half of the friendly, admittedly not all Reece's fault but he does have to take some responsibility. For me Reece has to step up now and have a quality start to the season, we've enough centres at the club that theres no reason for one that isn't performing (which happens over the course of a season and I'm not just applying this to Lynne but to Tupou, Arundel and Gibson also) to keep starting.

Arundel might be a slight threat to Lyne's place in the team but Gibson's really light years behind.

Agree with most of this but I think Gibson needs a bit more time, what with the injury last season and lack of games to up his confidence, he run the ball in better as the game went on at Fev. Joe is a strong kid and withstands the tackle better but Reece I believe is quicker and more chance of breaking the line. CC and JK have a bit of a headache for selection as they have in a few other positions. A nice headache to have for a change

| for me both lyne and bjb are not super league standard centres - maybe a spot on the wing for one of them.
topou and Arndell for round 1 for me
