Quote: TRB "It would appear that I may have a spare ticket to see PiL in Wakey letter this month. Really looking forward to this with their recent music being really good for me!
I convinced the wife to buy shares in Unity and I'm really pleased with the way the music scene has taken off in Wakey in the past few years. Don't think we've seen anything like it since those early 80's - and I didn't see one of em, despite really liking Skids / Tourists / Pretenders....'"
The first time I saw PIL was at a festival in Leeds, Futurama I think it was called, John Lydon sang for the first half hour behind a massive white sheet that had lights behind, after about 20 mins people were getting restless, throwing cans etc, actually wondering if it was JL. He came out with the big grin and asked something along the lines of "have you ever thought you'd been done" great front man.
As for the music scene in Wakey TRB it is getting to that level as seen in the 80's but this seems more prolonged and is of course spread over a couple of venues, I was there for all of those punk/indie gigs and it was a wonderful time, but the resurgence in venues in Wakey and the great quality bars (for us oldies) is great news and may it continue for a long long time!
