| Quote: Slugger McBatt "It's nothing to do with traditional beliefs or ethnicity. You need to think of the mosque in the same way as if it were, say, B&Q wanting to build a superstore that would attract custom to the area and jobs. That could gain much more local support from those people in Agbrigg who would benefit from having a new employer close by and the ability to buy a hammer at 8.45pm. As far as the Bank of Ireland are concerned, their duty is to their shareholders and to get the best possible price. As for those wanting a mosque, it's just a big fat parcel of land on their doorstep. The fact that they are muslims is irrelevant. It's the fact that there is land and another interested buyer.
The issue isn't that they are muslims. It's the fact that someone else owns that plot and owns Belle Vue, and the blame for that can be found in numerous steps in the last thirty years of Trinity ownership.'"
Yeh your reply exhibits exactly the point I am trying g to make.

In that case you won't mind me taking your track record in terms of contribution.
I'm a nobody, but I do try, and in trying we've kept this process alive when it could so easily have been buried long since!
There is still hope!

| I'm having a problem imagining the good people of Agbrigg forming a line outside B & Q with an application in hand. Interesting thought though.

We are all nobodies in the scheme of things, that is the problem, the players are the money men. Yeah there is hope and hell i desperatley hope we are successful but every bit of 'good news' we ever get tends to have lead us to absolutely nowhere other than back to square one hence my cynicism. And ACV's sound great on paper but in reality the effect they end up having is minimal in anything other than buying a bit of time. Thats handy to have yes but it isn't a game breaker, it still comes down to money at the end of the day. Been there, done it, seen the pub become a tesco. Still onwards and upwards. Hopefully.

You are right, it's no good on its own, but it is helpful towards the current situation. It's also taken some doing, so it's a small, but significant win. It also marks a genuine positive contribution from the much derided council!
Don't get me wrong, it doesn't absolve them of blame for where we are, but it could mark the beginning of a new attitdude towards resolving our situation!

Its about time they did something useful thats for sure. Keep a close eye on them though, they will now think that they've done enough for us for another couple of years. Don't trust them!!
