| I would give ali another year even for the thirty mins of game time he attracts four or five tacklers every time and if he offloads and we can move ball quick creates space and we score more just like we did with domic and solomona a few years back when we had a half decent team

| All depends on how much £ he's looking for, he could do a good job for limited minutes for a lot of teams. But in a salary capped sport giving young emerging players that role may prove the more attractive option. It was great to see him at HQ again on Friday and I wouldn't be too distressed if he got a year as back up to cover injuries, but not on a high salary.

| Hopefully Brian Smith isn’t swayed by the number of posters hoping he gets another year.
He was done as a top class S.L. player when Leeds got rid, & our club cannot afford another player who can only do small minutes. I vaguely remember him getting shed loads of scores when Leeds took us to the cleaners one joyous night (seventy – four or about) at B.V. But his Wakefield highlights seem to elude me.
If we want to compete next season we simply can’t afford any mavericks in the team, look how this year panned-out. Let’s be fair, we aren’t playing in the NRL so we’ve no chance of going from zeros to heroes, it’s going to be a tough season & we can’t afford to gamble on the March of Time.

I know he announced his retirement, but the last contract was for two years, ending next season. There would have to be some compo to Wakey if he took a compromise agreement on the basis of retirement then joined another club?? www.skysports.com/rugby-league/n ... -wakefield

He himself never actually annouced his retirement, it was Brian Smith that said he thought he was in a press conference. If he had a year left on his deal we might have had to come to some kind of severance deal with him.

| What could have happened is ali said he wanted to retire so we agreed to cancel the final year of his contract. He then changed his mind but we had already spent the cash on signing someone else and hence him looking for another club

| I thought i had read somewhere that his last contract was for 1 year with an option for the 2nd year, which it appears we have not taken him up on?
