Quote The Avenger="The Avenger"Apparently there are a number of fans who question the commitment to the club of our Chairman.
Well in the hope that this will end any speculation as to his 100% desire to see Wakefield Trinity rise from the ashes of the Elston era, here is some information regarding our accounts.
We seem to have made a small profit from the 2014 season which in turn followed what looked like an inflated profit from the 2013 season.
The accounts also state:
At the end of the year the club had net liabilities of £1,511,688, but of that figure £1,016,974 is owed to shareholders, of which £853,500 is owed to Chairman Michael Carter.
I guess for the few even this might not be enough but surely it illustrates that right or wrong the decisions being made are always made with the best of intentions and not designed to cause hurt or hardship.
Can we all get behind this, we are in the fight of our lives and we need to pull together again!'"
This is a really poor attempt at a rallying cry and will frankly just polarise opinion, so IMHO a poor effort even if a worthy one.
Avenger you strike me as a bright person, hence I find it hard to believe you are seriously suggesting MC has injected £853,000 into the club. I seriously doubt he has but seeing as I have not seen the accounts I can't examine them fully. As there are no shareholders and the club is Ltd I'm surprised you've seen them, can you please direct us all as to where we can view them?
Accounts are complicated beasts and can be made to read many many ways so I suspect it's more like this. MC has taken on the liabilities of 850k, he's not however put up 850k worth of securities. He's able to do this because the banks know that WTRLFC (or Michael Carter Ltd) receive 1.2 million in Sky money every year as per contract and that money secures the debt. Even if we drop he knows most of the liabilities would be written off if the club failed as he personally would not be liable, that's why it's a Limited Liability company.
He may have put some monies into the club and he may well have put up some securities on some of the more fragile debts - and good for him - but 850k, sorry Avenger but though I lack the info and am no accountancy expert I just don't believe that.
I'm sure he's doing a lot and seems straight as a die in that respect but let's not guild the lilly - we are lucky to have him I agree, in fact we are lucky to have anyone.
