| Sad times. I refuse to accept that WMDC could not take a more active role in this nightmare situation. After all, I remember they were prepared to move heaven and earth to accommodate YCC at Durkar, years ago but can't help the City's only professional outfit.
I would go to Dewsbury reluctantly but only if there is a REAL move towards a new ground, otherwise I will find a new sport/club.

| Quote TrinFanX="TrinFanX"Does it? Are you sure about that? I'm afraid I'm not.
How long do you think we can remain a going concern with tiny crowds and in someone else's ground?
Don't forget, whatever revenue we make at BV is ours. At another ground, we would just get a cut. Someone else's bars, someone else's catering, someone else's car parking. And with a smaller and smaller following, a cut of very little to start with.
I may be very wrong, these are all just my opinions after all. But right now, this is really hurting. I guess I'm just lashing out, apologies in advance if anybody takes offence.'"
You are wrong
At the moment all that revenue is being gobbled up by the running of the club, maintenance/rent/insurance not to mention also the employment of those people to carry out the functions you suggest we would miss out on, we would have less variable overheads and more fixed cost, which makes it far easier to budget to.
It's not ideal ground sharing, but it's better than what we have at the moment, we can add some value to dewsbury said ground by means of improvement and this may have a positive for both clubs, this has to be a good thing doesn't it?

The biggest problem for me is the lack of identity which will inevitably follow any move to someone else's ground, irrespective of how we arrive in the situation. We move and I just can't see a way forward, only a slow death

| I'm more than willing to take your word on that, it's not my field of expertise, just a gut ( wrenching) feeling.
As for adding value to Dewsbury's ground, doesn't that pave the way for a much longer stay, as we feel we have something invested in it?
Don't get me wrong, if the worse happens and we drop down, I think the ground will be fine. If we are still in super league however, I don't see how we can possibly maintain a competitive squad in such circumstances. Surely the saving on the rent won't be enough to offset the inevitable drop in numbers?

| Mark my words this will be a first step towards a merger with Cas and Fev and then in the council's eyes they will have one professional sporting outfit playing in a shiny new stadium in Glasshoughton.

| Only a few weeks ago MC said that if we stayed in superleague we would have more money to spend on the team next year. No mention of not being able to afford the rent for Belle Vue. What has changed? I am afraid by giving notice to BOI he has signed the clubs death warrant. People on here say it was the only way to save the team but the Dewsbury ground will never be acceptable to superleague and we will be lucky to get 500 season ticket holders never mind the 4000 we had two years ago. If the money could be found to improve the Dewsbury ground it could be found to pay the Boys rent and keep Belle Vue. We could have launched a save Belle Vue campaign and involved all the hall of fame men, asked for help from the RFL as they did for Odsal. MC has high handedly taken that chance away from genuine supporters. Some see him as a saviour I see him as the undertaker who will bury the club. All we will have is memories.

No you are wrong. What do Cas have to gain by merging with us? What is in it for Fev? It's an old argument and it won't happen. Just accept that No-one else cares about us, Council, RFL, neighbouring clubs, BOI etc because that is the reality we are faced with. It's up to us to sort ourselves out, and us alone.
I have not lost all faith, I was there on Sunday and I enjoyed our joint effort (fans and players). I still think there is a lot to happen before we see the back of Belle Vue, but sustaining our SL position has never been more important.
I have no option but to place my trust in MC and BS, and that's what I'll do. I'm sure hindsight will prove to be a wonderful thing come the end of the Middle 8's.

| Quote dboy="dboy"It's a shame that some fans are chucking it away, but that's their prerogative.
At least we won't have to put up with the defeatist sulking and whining and naysaying on here.
Will we??'"
That really depends on what you call defeatist
Personally I think giving up your historic ground and moving out of the city to become tenants of a lower division club is accepting defeat

| If we move to Dewsbury I hate to think just how much hospitality revenue we'll lose!
We currently have the boxes which provide a supporters bar/ restaurant/ around 8 executive suites / 12 executive boxes
Dewsbury do not have anywhere near that capacity!

| Its a sad day for many and I think the clubs reached a cross roads. Years of very poor management and I include the present owner have landed us in the position we are in now. I would love for B V to have been owned by the club and for the old girl to receive a total re vamp, I would love to live in a City that values its sporting history but unfortunately I don't. The first nail in the coffin probably took place when Ted convinced members to give him control, then sold the ground for a pipe dream.
Just what are the options, Rent reduction or someone comes up with the money to buy B V.

There is something about Belle Vue that makes it a great ground to visit in my opinion regardless of the facilities.
BOI probably wanted Trinity out and Carter knew that the writing was on the wall as well as in the Daily Mail...
