Quote: jack in the box "I disagree with this bit Fordy.
I am a supporter and therefore a fan of the club. However the club do not own me or exercise any control over me whilst ever I am outside of the ground. If I decided to go to an away game and throw a flair how could the club be blamed for that ?
In fact what if I decided to go to a Leeds Wigan game for instance, stand with the Wigan fans and throw a flair, would it be OK to give the Wigan club a fine for that ?
Don't get me wrong the idiots that did this deserve all they get but the club can't be blamed for their actions unless it happens within our own ground.'"
If you went to any ground and threw missiles (of any sort) onto the pitch and were not caught, then that club would be liable to some kind of sanction.
I don't think that the culprits were ever found out and therefore WTW cop the fine.
If it hadn't been for the trouble previously, at home vs Cas and then Widnes, probably it would have been a suspended fine.
Although it has been said before, there was and usually is, a complete lack of adequate stewarding at Cas and if there had been some intervention from them, maybe the culprits would have been found and ejected and maybe the punishment would be less.
However, lets not forget that the smoke bombs were thrown by Wakefield "fans" and I'm sure that they are suitably proud of themselves, although not proud enough to admit their actions and reimburse the club for their loss.
