Quote ball-in-hand="ball-in-hand"Totally agree with Shirley Briggs. I too am a season ticket holder and paid the full price for mine. Survival in Superleague although essential should NOT be at the expense of saving the team for the last 7 games. I want to be entertained. I dont expect us to win every game but I expect 100 percent effort every game from the coach and players. I think the coach should resign for his comments. If we do fail to compete in any more games in the normal season our crowds will be so low there will be no point staying in superleague because the club will be bankrupt. However , the real culprit in all this is Red Hall who have saddled us with a flawed system that allows teams to lose all the 23 games in the main season then just beat 3 or 4 championship teams . That makes a mockery of the first 23 rounds.'"
Great post, pretty much sums it up for me.
The only thing to add is that, we cant just rest squad members until the last 7 games as they could easily pick up a knock in their first outing after the split.
It's about getting as many of our senior squad members to be at their peak at the right time.
Also, to throw the towel in, with 13 games left of the "regular" season would be a disgrace.
I'm all for playing the system but, RL is sporting entertainment and as you say, the fans shouldn't be expected to turn up and watch utter dross for nigh on 3 months.
The effect that this would have on a dwindling fan base would be catastrophic.
