Cannot see anyone so out of touch as to take this decision. But if true they will certainly have done a great job in alienating the vast majority of the supporters that are left to give a damn!!
Not sure anything has officially changed has it? Trinity should never be dropped but i don't really see the point in changing anything at present, i have no love for the wildcat tag but neither is it doing any harm. Why bother spending money we probably haven't got rebranding if we don't have to?
Personally I don't think you need the Wildcats name and I think it's only negative.
It's not a recognisable nickname like Bulls or Warriors etc and hasn't ever really worked in becoming THE name of the club unlike at Leeds where the Rhinos name and associated mascot, branding and merchandise has worked.
I can't see any downside to dropping the Wildcats name and reverting to Wakefield Trinity alongside a traditional rebrand. And a rebrand back to Trinity would cost little to nothing.
Wildcats is a bit of a naff name that never took off. I hope you don't lose Trinity. Though it seems like the club are trying to do so by the back door for some strange reason.
