Good luck to Cas hope it goes a bit smoother than our venture. We both deserve better stadiums...

Quote: Scarlet Pimpernell "Why don't you stand as an independent so you can see how much support you will receive. I think we are getting a little carried away we are one of 5 clubs in the WF postcode. We are not that important to the majority of people in the Wakefield area, if we were our crowds would be much higher.
I believe people will vote on how they feel about their lives not the fact that we have been unsuccessful to get a ground built. I have not read much support from the Conservative council members or any of those standing in the election, so as I say there is a gap in the field for you to stand on a ground for Trinity ticket.'"

I won't stand because it wont make a difference, of course you knew that you just wanted to misrepresent my point of view. I was making the point that raising it as a political issue would have most effect sooner rather than later due to the election.

Local political issues very rarely come into play at local election times. I stood many times in my younger days and was beaten by a proverbial donkey most times.

Also, the stadium does NOT have to be built first. The conditions proposed say that none of the retail can be occupied prior to the freehold of the stadium being transferred to the club, it says nothing about about building it first?'"

I'm sure I've read in one of the planning documents that a contract is in place with Cas to say it has been agreed the stadium must be built first.

Also, on the above point fair enough but the stadium has to have been built and constructed before anything can open.

As this seems to hinge on a supermarket taking a slice of the action, which one do you reckon it will be? As an observer there already is a sizeable Asda pretty much on the site and numerous brand outlets at Xscape, I can't see the scope for a second supermarket which would have to be a big one to justify the development.

'"

I was told before it was announced that the supermarket would be M&S as said elsewhere on this thread. Whether that is the case I don't know. However, Sainsburys might move in if their plans don't come to fruition.

Not that I disagree with what your saying from a political stand point and I'm not trying to be pedantic here but aren't Batley and Dewsbury in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees even though they have WF postcodes. Do postcodes come into it when it comes to elections, or is it the Council Authority your under?
