Quote: sandaltrinityfan "I've never complained about the stewarding in the past but have witnesses two incidents recently, which show how petty and officious some of the stewards are. One involved a long standing supporter, who is, shall I say, vociferous - but all good humoured. he was approached by a number of stewards because he was deemed to be 'insulting'. Insulting who was not made clear but the stewards clearly wanted to make something of it. I firmly believe that if it was not for the intervention of other fans the situation would have escalated - as it was he received seemingly a friendly 'warning'
At last nights game a man was daring to lean on the wall at the pitchside, nobody within 3 feet of him and he was approached by a steward and made to move away.
Talk about petty - I suppose the stewards will say they were following orders . That may be the case but surely they have some discretion to apply common sense? Or is it that they have no common sense to apply?'"
I was stood next to this and thought it was very heavy handed, but I stood down that way the week after and said supporter was having good banter and a joke about the incident with the same security blokes.
I think they were overzealous at the time but most of them seem to be reasonable enough, you'll always get your odd pillock on a strange power trip but there's always one.
