I think he caused a too many pegs for not enough holes at half back and caused disruption in the team to fit him in, making the team then unbalanced.
In attack he's a decent enough player, in defence he's a liability.

Not suggesting he's a bad apple though he may be. Just that it hasn't worked out or at least not yet. It happens but with Smith clearly looking for a return to BV I can't see Sammut hanging about.
