| I also thought it a perfectly reasonable question. Maybe he is a "yes man" to Agar. Some managers/coaches love having guys like that around telling them how good they are, massaging his ego from time to time. He's not directly in the firing line, no worries. Just keep his head down and collect his pay every month.
I am also a Huddersfield Town supporter and ex manager Lee Clark had his yes man in Terry McDermott who has spent years being nothing more than a yes man. Huddersfield fans used to ask the same question of him too, apart from going for the sandwiches after training, what the hell does he do?

| Most assistants come as a package with the coach therefore if he fails they both fail. I doubt it is in the interest of either to see the team fail because their chances of another SL post would be damaged.
I think you have covered everybody from sacking the coaches and releasing some of the players who some feel are not committed to the cause. We have even progressed to speculate what a new coaching team could provide all because we lost two games. The number of away games we have coming up suggests we will lose more so I expect many more threads covering basically the same topic even if they relate to different parts of the club.
I get it some of you don't like Agar and never will. I never liked Henderson and could not understand his selection every week however I realised that the coach felt he added to the team and after all I would not be losing my job if he got it wrong.
I would wait and see how we progress rather than these knee jerk reactions because we still hold our SL survival in our own hands.

| The question itself is not a problem and is quite hard to answer because we don't see him doing his job like the more high profile roles, but it does make me laugh that no one knows what he does but are now discussing getting rid.
I imagine he is working as a team with Agar to deliver game plan, organise training, deal with individual player needs.

| Quote newgroundb4wakey="newgroundb4wakey"I don't know what Websters input is but a lot of Cas players have said publicly that Danny Orr has been a big factor in this seasons good results so maybe a good number 2 is equally as important as the head coach.'"
When the results were good for Wakefield a lot of people said what a good assistant Paul Broadbent was. Once the results went tits-up Broadbent got the same stick as Kear.

And you know scarlet folk arnt getting upset because weve lost two games its the way they were lost with a gutless feeble performance ,and another thing I'll suggest is anyone who tries to defend that as got the patience of jobe

| Quote trinity63="trinity63"Firstly let me say l am not having a dig at him but other than kicking the ball into the air for Richard Mathers to catch, what exactly does James Webster do at our club? Could somebody explain please.'"
My view is based in Websters playing career and from it, I can only assume that he brings the attacking piece to our game....and when we havnt been dropping the ball, making errors and missing tackles we've looked fairly decent in attack. Being a half back, Id imagine his defensive expertise are lacking a bit...
im not too concerned about Webster anyway...Im concerned about us making errors, missing tackles and our discipline.....and you tend to find those improve with fitness, and against Leeds its was evident to me that theyre not fit! if youre fit, you concentrate more and youre more focused, which has a direct effect on performance in the aforementioned areas.

| Said for a while our conditioning looks way off. Carrying the ball we get dominated in the tackle tautai sand Ali apart maybe and I though Raleigh went ok at kr. In defence we drop off tackles far too easily and also allow the offload far too easily. Can't play for a full 80 either. Something a miss

| Martin Clawson is, by all accounts, a little 'old school' in his strength & fitness training methods, the polar opposite of what Colin Sanctuary was before him who was maybe a touch too technical. Maybe as his contract expires at the end of the season it might be time to look in a different direction and find a happy medium.

| I'd imagine that's down to the coach to choose whether or not he has his contract renewed

100% agree. Trouble is mid season there isn't a great deal you can do to improve it
