| When we couldn't sell out a reduced capacity Belle Vue for game one, and had to ask volunteers to fix the ground, where is the money coming from?

| If the Bulls situation had not flared up again, Scruton would still be a Bulls player.
Can't understand why people see how we have conducted business with Bradford as bad.
If we are in a position to strengthen our squad, why not?
The beef is that we always get written off as relegation fodder but when we try to improve our situation, questions are asked about whether it's a good career move by fans of the club that the play has left.

| Can it really be the case that the departed players contracts were that big, and allow us to replace with better players.

Think the difference is that money is being better used, rather than sprinkled about like confetti.

| Add up the money we got for Smith, Poore, Cockayne and Amor, then add it to the 4 or 5 months wages we have saved by not having to pay them, then add 300k Sky money, you will end up with a fairly decent wedge.

| I agree re the sales, but at that time it was to cover a shortfall. So that money must have gone to plug the gap along with deduction in wage bill

| Those contracts were very big though.
My understanding is that Bradford/administrator were offering players rather than us going in like vultures.
Also I think Scruton's comments are being misunderstood by our myopic friend.
I'm sure being forced to leave somewhere you have friends and gave your all is upsetting and is a tough decision. I'm sure you feel like people will think you are not loyal.
That doesn't mean you can't be loyal and give your all to your next employer.
In some ways he should be credited for not just saying how great his new team are and forget his mates straight away like many do.

Throw in Tim Smiths wage along with Mellars, Aiton, Kaye, Mariano, Wilkes, Cowling & Goulding and it all totals up to a decent amount of 'Elston salary' savings from last years squad.
