| Quote bren2k="bren2k"Far too many delicate flowers on here today; I call it as I see it and I won't patronise Fev by suggesting that their ground is wonderful since they've put the new stand up, because it isn't; the lights were not strong enough, the car park and access road was a swamp, the steps were crumbling away and the whole place looked a dump. They've obviously got big plans and best of luck to them, but there's a long way to go before I wax lyrical.
As for the rugby - it was pretty grim, but congratulations to Fev on the win - they thoroughly deserved it.'"
If Your struggling to find the grapes, might I suggest 2 sugars with it, but I would personally avoid the Aspartame as that can leave a bitter after taste.
Surprised you did not appreciate that the stadium is currently in transition and yes the flood lights and pitch will be sorted. When you open your new ground in Stanley give me a shout and will gladly give it the once over.

| POR is a bit like BV. Its a dump but a homely dump (as per Steve Ryder, Grandstand 2002)
I quite like it.
The improvements will definitely make it a better little ground that's for sure.
As for the game, we were out enthused by a far more enthusiastic team, but we have to remember it was only a friendly.
We can't use that game as a yardstick for how the season will fare.
All in all (despite the result) I had a decent day out.

| The new stands at POR look to be coming on well and depending how they develop the opposite end, it will be a tidy RL ground, with more soul than many of the new Lego style stadiums that are around these days.
It's supposed to be somewhere to go and watch a game of RL and they are definitely making progress.
Their problem wont be the ground, it will be finding enough willing customers to go and spend their Sunday afternoons watching Fev play.
I really can't understand folk knocking them, they should be applauded for trying to make progress, in spite of the lack of prospects of promotion.

As I understand it's been put back for a while as the overseas players aren't here.

Yes we have 3 days in Wales.
It shows how the other half live as I was travelling with work last week and was at Manchester as the Warrington guys were on their way to Oz for their preseason.
Every player was kitted out with Wolves branded bags and kit. They looked the part and the full squad was there too. Young kids that you could tell had never travelled anywhere were on their way to Oz.
Wigan I think are doing Florida.
I'm sure I saw Hull are going overseas too.
Maybe Wales is what we need as it is more representative of our league but it does show the difference in cash and sponsorship at those clubs

| Quote bren2k="bren2k"That was a dour, boring and low skilled game, played in terrible conditions in the freezing cold in a stadium that is still bloody awful, new stand or not.
Wish I'd stayed at home!'"
This is the error people make IMHO - it wasn't a game it was a training exercise with live ammo.
If you analyse it we rotated the props over 20 times, so not IMO a serious effort to win a game.
Also that slope, they really know how to use it.

Aye, that's a fair comment; it was pointed out to me on numerous occasions by the person I was with, but I think the cold and the mud put me in a bad mood.
