I agreed with all of you a few months ago prior to becoming a part time agent, but I don't think anyone understands how much hard work goes into being one, players are very demanding and you certainly do earn your money as an agent.
I can only speak for our agency but if anything its better if your player is settled and happy, trying to get players sorted elsewhere is bloody hard work and stressful. If our lads are happy where they are we advise them to stay.
We look at the best rugby/career offer for our client and not just necessarily the highest bidder. Perfect examples would be Taylor Welch & Mark Offerdahl.
Most agents that I have heard of and seen are much of what has been described in this thread.
