| I am back but apparently on my final absolutely final never again warning from El Rey. I understand the thinking behind short term contracts but on the other side of the coin if we find a star player we could lose them at the end of the season. We would receive no transfer fees. I guess those that are coming are on the cheap and should we survive they will want to renegotiate their contracts. If they were under two year contracts they will be unable to probably renegotiate a new contract and if they wanted to leave we could demand a transfer fee.
Where would we be now if the likes of Smith, Aiton etc had not signed longer contracts.

I've missed you Agent XIII
Your last point is very pertinent at the moment. It could be said that decision has helped save us.
Deciding what length contract is a tough decision but very important as we attempt to climb back out of the mess.

I can see the logic of your reasoning. I am sure if we identify a [utrue[/u star player longer terms will be offered.
However I am now glad we have learned from Elstons stupidity and are not handing out 3 years deals to all and sundry.

| WTW are damned if they do and damned if they don't. IMHO it is very sensible at this stage to offer 1 year deals to marquee signings such as Anderson who has had a fair share of bad luck in the last 2 seasons with injuries. Probably why the deal worked out is best for both parties gets him back in the shop window competing at a high standard and it gives Trinity a big aggressive prop with a real pedigree. Younger promising signings is different and should be tied down on 2/3 year deals.
From what I've read and heard they are doing a great job in difficult circumstances at the club.

| I don't see the confusion; if he pulls up trees, he signs an extension part way through the season, then if he wants to leave after 1 year, he has some value to the club.
It's not rocket science.
