Wednesdays EGM of the RL Council has been postponed to give more time for consultation. Looks like the proposal may not be implemented after all but what will the alternative be ?

As has been suggested - 1 up, 1 down and the return of minimum standards, which appear to have been quietly shelved, right about the time that several clubs half killed themselves to implement, whilst others sat on their hands.

This could well be the most important development in our own bid for long term survival. Another year in the top flight could be almost guaranteed with this delay. Spare a thought for those who have bought big for 2014 in the belief that 2 will be relegated. This may no longer be the case...

The RFL should be having a meeting under the heading of
"How do we attract more investment into Rugby League".
If we can increase the revenue coming into the game, many of the changes don't need to happen and we could reverse the ludicrous situation over the senior academies and dual reg.

I think the likes of Wigan and the 2 Hull clubs are all for a 10 club SL. This stand-off might cause a delay for a season like you say but in the long-term could be disasterous for the likes of Wakey and Cas.

The minimum standards thing is fairly straight forward, so long as they don't change the criteria part way through the season etc.
IF this is the route that the RFL are going down then, we should know at the start of the season who would be eligible for promotion AND what would happen if the "top" club in the CC wasn't up to the grade ie would the promotion spot go to the highest placed eligible club or would the bottom club retain their top flight status.
It has to be transparent and without the perceived protectionism that has gone on in the past.

Maybe the top owners are fedup with puting money in to keep clubs competative,while the RFL sit back and watch the demise.They must get sponsers if we want to go forward,if they cant,get someone who can TOP PRIORITY.

As stated by Blake Solly last night the size of stadium would not be a criteria. As long as it was safe and good enough for Sky to broadcast in HD, you could have a capacity of 5K. The fact that obviously from a business point of view NM would be better means its a must but it won't matter standards wise, Belle Vue would be good enough.

In any case Newmarket is a long way off yet i'm afraid. 5 years at least despite what some might want to tell you.
