He told everyone he didn't want to go which was a lie. It seems that Salford are untouchable. Its also now looks as if the doctor is buying the oldham football team and rugby league team too. |

Well its nearly pay day again and as far as I can see no major investment has been forthcoming and season ticket take up has been pitiful, stands to reason Trinity need to offload another player to pay the wages as per Tim Smith.

That's not what I read at all.
He didn't want to go but accepted Wakefield needed the money and took one for the team while benefiting personally as well.
Not the same as a lie at all. |

Well we all hear different things and that certainly doesn't tally with the story I was told.
I heard Smith had been a bit of a nightmare to manage for a good couple of months as he was hankering after a move (not that I blame him as he has got a decent wedge payrise out of it and it's a short career).
It certainly benefitted the club but I don't think he was sold against his will!! |

Daddy cool stated at the fans forum that the first time he heard about Tim Smith to Sslford was from a call by the Dr saying is the deal done yet? tim Smith pushed for a move.

The situation with Tim Smith is different to those from the Crusaders and should not be confused. Salford signed him but he unlike those at the Crusaders had employment so in theory could not be classed as being disadvantaged by staying at Wakefield. The Crusaders had gone into liquidation therefore the RFL to assist the players who were not responsible for their demise an exemptions to allow them to be able to find a club at short notice.
This was announced by the RFL to alert teams therefore I think it is unlikely that Smith will be classed as exempt. I presume this is Salford's attempt to try to justify the number of players from overseas. If the rl do change the number of non uk players I am afraid Smith will still be on quota.
