Overseas players:-


If/ when push comes to shove, I would lose an overseas player rather than a UK based.
The imports have to cost more with air fares, accommodation, and other ancillary costs.

Mellars - 1 more year left but he has to be better than Reece Lynn in the centre, make him earn his corn.
Poore - sorry, but cannot see anything better than our English props and his costs will far exceed UK based players.
Ali - signed for another year. Not sure.
Aiton - yawn Ellis etc, his floor pass to slow for me, great guts and defence.
Collis - class act, well worth keeping
Taitai - penalty and cock up machine

For me, Poore and Taitai. There must be £150k plus there to save, less replacement costs.

UK based
Molloy - why did we get him?
Fox/ Cockayne - sadly, Ben will probably end up at HKR, his enthusiasm is brilliant?
Wilkes - is he retiring, taken some flak /blame.

I'd lose any one apart from Aiton, Kirmond, Amor and Collis, we can build a team around these. Sadly these players are in high demand.

1) We don't know how much those players are on so you can't make a call on that.

2) I don't see why the overseas players should be treated any different to the English ones if they are already here.

Selling a player is based on
1) What their contract allows us to do
2) does anyone else want them
3) What they are worth to the other team (not our valuation)
4) Will we save significant money on salary
5) are they a key part of our team

And if anyone adds any more the "do we like them as a player" is always at the bottom

No one else will be leaving if we can find the 400k in the coming months.

I thought it was obvious, £400k will see us through to next season, I understand that to be money to keep paying wages in the off season. There is certainly no talk of it being spent on anything else.
Baring in mind we have had 1000 plus ST renewals already this is a problem for down the line also.

I don't understand anything yet as I have seen no figures and I'm not aware that anyone has so I'm certainly not going to speculate on anything, positive or negative.

We can either carry on fighting or give in now but I'm not giving in. I've too much emotion invested in Wakefield Trinity to give up without a fight. Having said that I'm not going to "die in a ditch" for a lost cause but whilst there is hope there is life.

When everyone has written us off in the past, we have not done bad. The teams we have put together from other teams cast offs have been great. Maybe next year without the expectation thinking we can make the 8. The team can surprise a few people and we can all come back down to earth. This year 12th is disappointing but next year it would be great.
