Quote: Shifty Cat "From what I hear from different people that's half the problem. Idiots who used to go watch and cause trouble at football and have now been placed on banning orders are now looking to RL to cause trouble. This not just a Trinity thing I think it's creeping at most clubs.'"
Not sure they were football fans but my comment below relates to banning orders. As some of you know I'm married to a Hull FC fan so I was at Hull v Widnes at the KC on Friday night. Whilst Widnes did not bring a large travelling support (not surprising since I can't understand why so many clubs play on a Friday night) there were some familiar faces in the group.
With around 10 mins left in the first half a Widnes fan got up from his seat with a beer in his hand. He motioned to go to sit at the very front row of the north stand even though he'd previously sat near the top of the stand. Stewards queried his movement but clearly had no right to stop him. I could see trouble brewing.
This moron then sat at the front by himself for about 10 seconds. He then stood up and started giving hand signal abuse to both the East and West stands. When stewards went to query his actions he soon started lashing out and started fighting with the stewards. A few of his so called "mates" then came down to investigate (shall we say) what was going on.
Pretty ugly scenes and at least two people were forcefully ejected. I saw another two walk out pitch side with stewards accompanying them but I am unsure if this was voluntary or not.
The fact some familiar looking faces are present again and then involved with trouble makes you wonder what actions are clubs taking? The recent Wakefield update said that the Wakefield fans involved in the trouble have been banned indefinitely (quite rightly so). Other clubs have been notified (per the statement) so they should not gain entrance to away games.
Why are Widnes not doing anything??? Some of their fans are clearly not innocent in all of this and it upsets me as a rugby league fan to see two Widnes matches in close succession with fan trouble involved. Irrespective of who started it.
No smoke without fire. Anyone of ANY club who causes trouble should be banned from all grounds.
