| Hi Musky,
just my 2 pence , I think at 7s we should be teaching the kids core skills ( Ball Carry, Tackle etc and simple involvement and spatial awareness games ) this way when we move up the age groups and come the transition age U12s the players will be equipped to move on faster )
Im not saying don't do any passing games just don't rely on them in games for a few years yet, let them enjoy being part of the game.

I get what you say but disagree my lad is 8 and plays for eastmoor u9s and they pass and also have set moves and they have since the under 8s.they now know when to play the right way to as in when to play one man rugby or use moves or pass the ball.yes core skills are important but feel the lads in the team will benefit from what they learn and play now

| The first stage should be moving on to the ball from first reciever instead of catching stood still, then progress to a simple plus 1 and possibly an 'A' ball. Basic agility, mobility, catch, grip, carry, pass and tackle and nothing over complicated as it doesnt need to be, the basics done well at that age should be the focus to support their development in later years at per the LTAD model, and of course the main thing...fun. It does amaze me the number of 'mini/mod coaches' who warm up their team by passing the ball down a 12 man line, with each kid touching the ball only once every 3 minutes, whilst also talking at them like mini adults.

100% agree but be careful, you can't say something sports sciencey like "LTAD" and use the word "Fun" in the same sentence when talking about coaching kids. Apparently the two are like oil and water and are impossible to mix, You'll stand accused of witchdoctery!

| So after suffering their first defeat in competitive rugby for 2 years Crigglestone's 13s have suffered their 1st ever competition league loss ever.
It was at the hands to a huge siddal side and I mentioned how good this team was only 3 weeks or so ago.
Out played at times , out thought and more self belief.
A few moments of all black rangers did resurface .
If self belief returns next week i know that group of lads can go to East Leeds and give a good account of themselves bringing home the spoils.
Its better all round that there is competition and what seemed formalities early as shocked a few.
We still have imo the best coach you could find and we also still have some great talent, others are chasing.
its certainly mixed up the league and as a footnote i would add that had siddal not been slow of the mark they could very well be champions. If others slip up i can see them being contenders.
well done siddal you deserved it.
What say you.

| Just a quick word to siddal as a club.Thank You
I didn't come the last time I was with the other one but,
WOW!
What a club house , well run etc
And you had a BIG GALA DAY or something, but still let all the games to be played before the GALA kicked off.
Amazing how many of us were their at the club to use your stalls at the GALA.a Masters Game which i thought
that's a great idea , not only is the grass cut , lines marked but you can also multitask.
i wish i was a visionary like you then i could foward crazy ideas like this to our club.

Great bit of honesty which is fair play and tbh I was expecting siddal to win this game, they are a big imposing side who take some stopping when they are on the front foot. Its great news for the league and that's no disrispect to crigglestone who will come good again soon but for the minute they are possibly off the boil.
Back to business next week for the panthers after having a welcome break.

Cheers Muttley.
Thought it was going to be so different today after the opening ten mins and Crigg shot into the 12-0 lead.
The lads learned from the last game where not to kick the ball on last play and varied their game when closing in on the Crigg line(although still one or two too many attempts at using the forwards to barge over the line).
The game was played in an excellent spirit by two teams that put some brutal defensive hits on each other.
Glad you enjoyed the facilties and our "Aussie Day" Gala, probably made parking a bit tough with 5 games being played today.
The ground staff at the club do a sterling job with the pitches, more so when you take into account there are 10 different age groups training on the pitches through the week.
The destiny of the title is still in your hands....................Good luck
Roll on next season when hopefully it will be more than a two horse race for the title.
