2 years ago, we avoided the wooden spoon by beating the Bulls at home on the last day.
We had a team of young lads with half a handful of experienced players and the better players were all on their way out, due to having offers from other clubs.
We then sign pretty much a squad of new players and scrape 8th in SL.
The best case scenario this term was 6th/7th but a sensible view was 8th -10th which is where we are likely to finish.
Really, bearing in mind the clubs resources, what do you expect ??'"
I would agree with him. Performances and finishing positions are relative, where we were and what team we had in the past is irrelevant, this squad has the ability to play a far better, more expansive game than five drives and a kick up to the opposition 20/30m, but it simply isn't doing it.
There have been threads all over the place recently questioning the club's ability to pay the bills and it's financial position due to virtually giving season tickets away and being unable to attract full paying customers, the club can do all it wants to promote games with reduced prices etc but ATEOTD the only thing that will make new fans pay the full price is the product on the pitch, Agar and crew have a duty towards the club in this matter and they are not heeding it.
The rose tinted can shout all they want about the last two performances but both were of poor quality against dire opposition and not of a standard that is going to attract newbies, even at the risk of losing games there needs to be more emphasis on entertaining the punters not boring them to death, Agar should have been made to understand the importance of this by Glover before he started pushing promotions with cheap tickets, if he has been and can't coach the team to play attractive rugby then he should be shown the door.
