Agreed! B4 his stint in Union he knew he was very good, but backed it up in all areas. I do agree he is not as effective as he used to be in attack and defence, but with his fitness increasing and the game time he is going through, can only get better.

We have seen what he is capable of, so we know he has a lot of potential, which is more than we can say for the likes of Mellars.

Weren't his best performances for Leeds st fullback?

He won't displace Mathers and is worth a centre berth at the moment.

I remember someone on here suggesting he should take penalties into touch rather than Sykes months ago. Brilliant kicking today I would give Smith a contract on the basis of his kicking and utility value !

Think smith has been pretty decent this year. Not one of his better games on the field today but was very good with the penalty yard gains and conversions.

I think he contributes to the team well enough and would be happy to see him as our starting centre in 2014.

Funny you should say that, I said the same thing a few weeks ago to someone. That when you have a utility value, even though you might have a preferred position, you can sometimes fall into the jack of all trades master of none syndrome, when you're not used consistently in the same position.

Was going to start the same thread. Outstanding kicking display but shocking in every other department. Lost the ball twice on the 1st tackle!

He wasn't brilliant in open play today but he wasn't that bad and has had some good games recently so I would certainly give him a contract.

If we could run a kicker on like American Football, he'd be first on the list - in these days of conservative percentage plays, he bucks the trend and puts in massive touch-finders; no slouch with conversions either.

In general play he runs hot and cold, but is a clever footballer and has good utility value - worth having around I'd say.

Agree, also once he settles properly into the centres he will improve as he goes along. Hopefully he does sign a contract and doesnt go elsewhere for $$$$$.

I cant see anyone offereing him $$$$$ the way he is playing at the moment
