Anyone else seen he's gone to saints on loan for the season with Gaskell going to Salford?
I understand Gaskell going to Salford as he wasn't getting a look in at Saints. But Howarth to saints is a strange one.

Not to me, Stuart was an excellent player for us. Led from the front with a good RL brain and will do OK at Saints. |

I always thought Howarth was better than the team we had at the time allowed him to look.
Big shoes to fill though - Roby is a machine.

Everyone knows i'm a huge fan of Stu Howarth's. His reading of the game is exceptionally and he tends to pick the right option at the right time. I don't see him as a hooker, he doesn't have that acceleration or pass accuracy required.
I'd say a stint under Nathan Brown will be a massive boost for him. He's still a few seasons away in my opinion of being a decent SL player but he'll develop into a good loose forward in my opinion

He's already a good SL player, more like a few seasons off being a very good SL player if he keeps it up. |

I don't argue that he's a bad player I thought he was very good for us and would have liked him to stay. However as a cover for roby? He's not a hooker at all but will be a great loose forward. Reading the saints/ Salford board a lot of Salford fans didn't rate him but he did seem to play just at hooker for them.

I don't understand how he would be a replacement for Mathers as he is a half back or centre not a full back, unless u want to put him to half back, Sykes to centre and smith to full back? Or Sykes to fullback? Gaskell is also out of contract this summer. |
