3214 according to Nick Rigg of the Wakey Express I thought there looked to be more still a good effort given the cold etc.

he also mentioned the new rule about the 'free play' asked for feedback on Twitter which I think he got (nobody seems to like it)! FWIW my opinion is bin it now it was like watching RU advantage and then bringing it back to original offence 3 hours later

Up until reading twitter I'd not heard about this rule and I asked someone at the game (who is a ref) if they knew anything about a new rule and they told me they hadn't heard anything about it, so hopefully that trail is all we'll see of it

Its a poor rule to try to bring in, imo they should concentrate on the rules we already have.

It seems the "play the ball" rule is 2013's baby.

The rule was used at Headingley when Mathers scored after Cowling kicked through its when the Leeds Team appeared to stop, I read about it in a report but didnt get as the rule to my knowledge had not been announced, So on one hand it worked but yesterday it was a disaster I prefer the old rule.

The new rule just seems like a free shotb at a 40/20, which is a balmy level of punishment for a knock on.
Scrum down, head and feed to the attacking team seems plenty fair enough IMO.
