e.g. some of his pay comes out of the Fev budget and a fair wad of his wage comes from another job... i.e. The Featherstone Rovers community sports foundation trust!!

I think he is just responding to your comment about a deep pocketed sponsor, remember you still have to comply with championship regulations such as salary cap the same as everyone else.
I would be wary of how deep his actual pockets are, remember how the Cas fans thought he was their new messiah??
