Quote: RebelRebel "Why would you need to buy the copyright for the previous edition? Why can't you just start with the 1970s? You won't be able to match the style of the original author without a lot of trouble anyway, and it may not reflet the expectations of the modern market.

That said, you'd be lucky if you sold 1,000 copies. So it's vanity publishing at great expense. You'd also be lucky to keep down a day job, do the research required, and come up with something in the next few years. This is a job for someone who's retired (or maybe writing a PhD).

I'm not saying it isn't a worthwhile aim, but there's a huge amount of luck involved.

If I were retired, I'd love to research and write it - I mean that seriously.'"

I think I made it fairly clear it was a big job, but if you don't ask!

Why does the style need to match icon_confused.gif Who'd want a book with only half the clubs history icon_confused.gif Why rewrite what already exists icon_confused.gif

A 1000 copies is very pessimistic, but if you say so - it's still enough.

I think your underestimating the can do/build it in a shed mentality of the British - maybe you've been with our teutonic cousins to long icon_confused.gif:

Luck has nothing to do with it, just the desire.

Try this for what fans can do www.saints.org.uk/saints.org.uk/ ... age_id=283

Any way it's fairly irrelevant because I've only had one reply icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

The Neil Fox rugby league record points scorer was written by Lindley with the help of Terry Kelley.Loads of facts in it season by season and a real good read will have to have a good look through the other stuff I have when I get chance.

There's obviously a lot of interest out there for an updated book. We have all the records going back to 1895 and are compiling records and statistics for the club at present and I believe a book is been written by a supporter, not linked to the club.
Johnny Thompson's benefit brochure was a good history from when he signed (late 1970s) until his benefit in the late 1980s

Thanks for the kind words regarding our Facebook and Twitter pages .... all god, useless information!

Quote: Wakefield No 1 "wasn't the Nigel bell testimonial brochure in the late 80 's a continuation of the history of Wakefield trinity? Also I have a massive scrapbook covering 1998 if U need it I was thinking of the John Thompson brouchure in 1988 by Ian Proctor it says Incorporating Trinitys 10 year review on the front cover..
