deal with goverment agencies all the time, trust me this is normal, nothing to worry about, IMO a delay can be good news most times, so I's can be dotted and T's be crossed,

Could it be political? If I remember correctly the LDF is going to be ratified on the 20th at a meeting of Wakefield council and after which the land will no longer have any green belt on it. They can then announce the building of a great new stadium and warehouse on a brown field site without any back lash from tree huggers.
Just a thought.

Other than the typical delays that can occur within governmental departments, could there be anything coming out of any woodwork to cause the delay ?

Can't believe this news. Was hoping to celebrate at the 9's tomorrow night.

Other agencies have clauses written into contracts with penalties for not meeting deadlines,particularly if the government are the ones wanting deadlines adhered to.
Doesnt seem to work the other way round.

No. The Inquiry is complete and the decision will already have been made, its just the announcement that that has been delayed.

Tantastic makes a good point on the LDF being ratified by Council on 20th June. If the planning was approved on the 19th and then Council failed to ratify the LDF (highly unlikey) it would look a bit odd, planning granted on land that's still green belt.

I think we'll have our decision before the end of the week.

I expected a delay as the d-day approached.
