| Quote: Wigg'n "If he spat at a Featherstone player I'm sure the RFL will pick it up and duly punish him.
If it turns out nothing at all happened, I'm sure you'll offer your apologies to Gareth in this thread mid-week.'"
gary schofield said recently that hock reminded him of mal reilly. reilly would have spat hock out.

| Quote: jonh "I would like an example of the gentlemen enforcers that seem to be running around SL.
As for you Vasty, just yawn, bring something new to the party will you?
Hock is a dirty so and so and is prone to the brain explosion no doubt, he disrupts and intimidates oppositions, although to be fair the Fev lads did not back down and could teach some SL teams how to deal with him.
The entire thread is based around a non event that did not happen.
Whilst I wholeheartedly agree gouging is wrong, the evils of spitting and swearing that you slate him for are laughable.
If we banned every player who spits of swears during a match we would struggle to get a game of 7's on with a combination of every team in the league.
Obviously no players at Wakefield spit or swear as they are clearly all angelic little cherubs.
I will if you bring your other eye with you to Wigan games.

| Quote: bren2k "It definitely did happen - he was told to get behind the line for Fev's conversion and he backed up slowly, calling Mr Silverwood an effing jeffer.'"
If Silverwood heard it and ignored it he should be suspended a la Alibert, a review for Hock should see him banned too as it should be a straight red offence.
I know you make jest at Leeds, but when I picture Kevin Sinfield (you know the one, not quick enough or with hands good enough to be a back, and not big enough to be a forward) I don't get an image of him lifting a cup or the Superleague shield, it's of him screaming at the official with one hand on his hip with his gumshield in it whilst the other points/jesticulates at the official.

| For me, the boundaries need to be re-drawn; we used to boast that RL players showed total respect for the referee and proudly claimed it as a major point of difference between our game and football - that's now a totally false position, given that players are routinely arguing with and trying to influence the ref, are blatantly milking penalties by holding the tackler down and/or chucking themselves on the floor at the slightest touch in the ruck and, my pet hate, Head Coaches are going to the media after a game and criticising the ref/defending their starlets.
We're on a slippery slope and for me, this should be an absolute priority for the officials - call a meeting with all HC's, advise them that their will be a zero tolerance response to abuse of officials and blatant cheating, then police it with lethal force and unrelenting consistency from that day onwards, even if it is Sinfield or Tomkins; I guarantee that as soon as Coaches realise the gig is up, they'll stop coaching it into their players and within a few weeks, they'll clean up their collective acts.
Until that time, nigglers and cheats will continue to win the day and by extension, adversely influence young players and bring the game into disrepute.

spot on. sinbin for questioning the ref, with straight red for swearing at him. enforce it. if a player swears when they drop a ball, so be it, but if it's in anyway directed to an official, then time for the red card at all levels of the game too.
