| Have to disagree he looked ed off when he came off and think he's been made a bit of a scapegoat on here. Played as good if not better than smith and I didn't think wood offered much when he came on. Don't get me wrong I think woods been fantastic all year but don't see why John is sacrificed over smith, for me he's the one who needs a kick up the !

From my view, great attacking player, tackles like Shirley Temple. 2 real powder puff efforts on TV views v Salford led to tries. But you don't play for NZ for nothing. I suspect as a team we will be maturing like a fine wine as the season develops and we really do seem to like the warm weather. We are lightweight in the cold, wet and mud but seem to scamp around and look dangerous as it gets hot. Salford result will hopefully give them the confidence to relax and stop the frenetic panic rugby that seems to me to be trying just a bit too hard at times and ending in trouble when we are on top

Um, if you were watching the match, you would've seen that our attacking style became more one dimensional, Smith's kicking in the second half was poor. Had we kept John on we would've had at least one more try. Besides, I'd like to see you do better. Oh wait, your on here and not on the training pitch.
Very good comment Willzay - has this fella ever been on the pitch in his life - to play that is... drum roll ah NO!!. Because as far as i could see John was doing his job, yeah some mistakes but who didn't!.

| John reminds me of the young BJ, in his first year he got bagged week in week out.
Didnt take the line on enough, didnt contribute, couldn't tackle.
In his second year he was much improved and has gone on to be a good SL player, and kicked us to death earlier on in the season.
I think he will come good with time, although Agar needs to consider a spell in the 20s for him (a. for a break and b. to work on his game, neither as some kind of punishment!!!) if he drops below an agreed level.
Stick with him i say!

That's a poor version of events. It was two big man on small man tackle where John was caught of balance and lacked technique. If a big man can't bust a small man then what are props for, why not have 17 halfbacks?
Very few tries are purely the creation of the attacking team, most come due to a greater or lesser extent to a defensive error. If there were no errors you would be watching a game that consisted purely of 5 tackles and a kick played exclusively in the middle section of the pitch. I'm exaggerating a bit but you get the idea - it just wasn't John day.

Agree, we obviously bought him not as the finished article but someone that will in time be a class player. He's struggling to find his feet but I wouldn't say in anyway he's been rubbish or not worth his spot, he just hasn't forced his personality onto a game yet and had that outstanding game for us yet. All this isn't that surprising really because he hasn't played very much first grade footy but I reckon in time he'll prove to be a very good signing for us.
