I was always told don't believe everything you read in the papers. In this case i'd advise you to not believe either of them!

I'm not sure they are contradictory, as the first article says that they are about to put pen to paper on the Tesco deal. The second article just uses the word 'defiant'. I suppose the question will be what Tesco do if the other deal is approved. If they would do it anyway, why not do it? Or are they waiting and seeing?
