| It would appear that Horbury High school is becoming a hot bed of Rugby league players, the ones that spring to mind are
Darren Wilkinson
Matthew Murray
and more recently the Gledhills
there's a young promising player coming through the junior ranks at the moment called Jordan Crowther
in respect to the Gledhills it's amazing how one family can boost the numbers is it not Clan

| Quote The Clan="The Clan"Another Rugby League playing family off Lupset were the Dickens, Stuart playing at Featherstone and his dad Steve had a spell with Salford, apart from these two there are a number of others who played amateur for Westgate.'"
The Dickens lived in Flanshaw (admittedly almost Lupset). I remember playing rugby sometimes with Stuart, although he was a fair bit younger than myself. The family home (if the parents still live there) is on the same avenue as where my parents live.
BTW, Lee Whiteley who played for Fev also went to Becketts. He never made the heights of WTW but did play and score a try at Belle Vue when we beat them and confirmed their relegation.
Kieran Allen did get some first team appearances for Trin.

The Dickens family also spent time living on Whinney Moor Avenue on Lupset, not disputing that they may also have lived in Flanshaw for a while as well.

It is and I failed to mention Robert Kelly who also went to Beckets.

| Think asking which amateur club brought on these players is a better question as the clubs will have brought more skills out of the player than the schools.

| Quote The Clan="The Clan"I think St Thomas a Becketts is out in front, Outwood (the sixth largest school in the UK) only started concentrating on Rugby League about ten years ago.
Off the top of my head STABs:
David Ward
Paul McDermott
Paul Kelly
Andy Kelly
Neil Kelly
Richard Kelly
Brian McDermott
Kieran Allen
Nick Fozzard
That's certainly not a finite list.
Incidentally, has any other school produced so many top flight coaches/international coaches.'"
Jason Golden to add to that list too.

| Quote The Clan="The Clan"Ive been working at Outwood Grange for the last six months and have got to know Mr Barker very well, those who attended OGA probably remember him as he's been a PE teacher there for 33 years.
We've had a couple of conversations about how sport has changed over the last 30+ years and it is he who has told me how Rugby League was never a priority at the school, that it was always soccer until the last ten years or so.
With the opening of a new £3M sports hall to add to the already very good amenities and the promise of more new facilities in the near future the school is going to produce some very good sportsmen and women for decades to come.'"
Mr Barker has been there a few years he was more into soccer I was there 85-90 and he was there then, had a brain tumour I think and has recovered well. Mr Smith always took us for Rugby not sure if he's still there but we always had a team, school finals always played at Belle Vue, big thrill as a Trinity fan to play on the famous pitch. Always on a week day night end of season and we got use of the Trinity changing room
