Accuse me of point scoring if you wish. If you don't join in the worship of JD you are branded a heretic by some. However you can slag off a young lad learning the game who is guilty of nothing more than looking after himself just like JD did as much as you like. It's a huge double standard. We signed him because he met the criteria at the start of 2010 ie young English and fitted in with our budget. Any other year we would probably would not have looked at him. If Millward can make anything out of him he`ll be lucky.

I wont accept it because the 1873 scheme is ment to help keep the young trained up players at the club thats why i signed up to the thing in the first place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to see the same quality player leave to that half bit club across the way that will send us over the hill average players!

That's all well & good if we're needing to get wages agreed for a player who WANTS to stay at BV, but if a player either isn't wanted by the coach or (more pertinently) no longer wants to be a Wakefield player then it doesn't really matter how much we are offering or what pot of money the wage come from.

The first priority is to build a squad that wants to wear the red, white & blue. If we get to a stage where the majority of the first team squad has come through the ranks at the club then so much the better. Once a player shows they don't want to be here then it's simply a matter of getting them out of the door in the way that benefits the club the most.

You have no idea of the conversations that have taken place over this! How much; how many years; what match payments; what players; do you really want to go..... You can't make it true just by wishing it so!

Just accept it, be disappointed if you like, but overall I take next years side to win a hell of a lot more games than this years and that'll do for me for now - oh yes, that and signing Walshaw, Davey, Cowling, Annakin.........

The 1873 scheme was set up with the intent of attracting, retaining youngsters to and from within the academy and to give them a chance to go onto first team rugby.

Murphy is unfortunately past that stage, he's now a developed regular first team player and has been so for a couple of season. This is aimed at the likes of Spiers, Annakin, Trout and mainly at those at younger ages e.g. U16's etc. Whilst it is frustrating that an academy product may leave, that doesn't mean to say another 1 or 2 won't progress and become the next Murphy, Ellis, Westwood etc, with your money!!!
