If he was the outstanding candidate that applied I'd like to know who else made the shortlist. Not my first choice or even second or third but there's nothing we can do now I hope he proves us doubters wrong. On his backroom staff I think Ben cooper willflow him as our new conditioner

Quote: vastman "Being pedantic here I know but Brass Eye along with the Fast show, Harry Enfield etc were sketch shows rather than sitcoms. Both very funny but very different, personally think sitcoms are much harder to get right.

Just to tag this on the end, Inbetweeners BRILLIANT almost single handedly rescues the British sitcom which had been failing badly IMO since the office and League of Gentleman in early the 2000's. So bad had it been of late that the American stuff was much better. I really like Noel Fielding but if the Mighty Boosh was the best we had to offer, god help us - sub standard Python at best.'"

Not like you to be pedantic vasty... icon_wink.gif

Agreed - I have deviated from the format with Brass Eye, but it was superb stuff; the earnest celebrity appeals for the elephant with it's trunk lodged in its own anus was excrutiatingly brilliant.

Inbetweeners does nothing for me - I watched a couple early on and it felt like sitting in the pub behind a table full of adolescent boys; The Young Ones were my knob-gag comedy heroes, I don't think I'm target audience for this generation's version.

American stuff is less appealing, but I've loved Seinfeld for years - I also have a soft spot for Cheers, cos I used to watch it with my old man.
