| Didn't Gareth Moore and Harrison have a bit of a bust up at Batley before he signed for us? Could be awkward if he did become the new coach

| Quote Shifty Cat="Shifty Cat"Agree it is but apparently a few other clubs have got their eye on him as well and according to the article posted on here some where, he's after a 6 figure salary.'"
If he will be such an asset to the club AG needs to open his cheque book.
A coach of this pedigree would inspire signings, both at home and in Oz- especially with his experience as number 2 to the national team.
IMO a coach like Gentle would be a huge leap down the road of building the "A Grade" Wakefield deserves.
We need to sell our club as having the plans under way to match this guys ambition.

As always with things like these, it isn't about just giving him the money he wants, it's also about whether he wants to come to Trinity, which could prove the bigger stumbling block.

| Would look good on his future CV if he took bottom of the table club to top 8, and if he fails no real problem just blame lack of quality, i would love to see one day a great coach at a lower level club just to see what they can do.

That's what I mean, we need to sell ourselves.
This is a bloke who is going places, we need to show we mirror this drive to the top.
He may have a good pedigree, but so do we.
We need to show him our plans for the future (BV and NM), show him the quality of players that come through the ranks (youth development is a passion of his) & show him the colour of our money in terms of budgets for this coming year. the next and our first season at NM.
We have a lot to offer, a smart person would want to get in on the ground floor now, before the rise in profile NM will bring.
As I said it's all about selling the club to him, something a bloke who made his millions selling windows shouldn't find too difficult.

| Quote The Clan="The Clan"The best name put up so far is Gentle by some distance, I'd be delighted if it turned out to be true.
I think his background of being a youth coach would be a huge asset for a club like ours and the juniors would benefit from his experience. So too would Tony Dury who is on very much the same track that Gentle has travelled.
If he's not on the clubs radar then they ought to be getting in touch ASAP to make him aware of our need for a new coach.'"
Completed agree, if this guy is on the radar, the money spent on his salary would be saved on players as he'd have the inside track on up and coming oz players instead of us wasting money on older existing names.
If JE or AG are looking in, get it sorted!

| Quote Disney cat="Disney cat"I'm not surprised wakey are struggling to name a coach cos there's that many grade A coaches or so you would think on here spouting garbage they don't know who to choose
'"
What do you suggest then - that we all stop having opinions, or just that we stop posting them here?
For me, we're at an interesting crossroads - the choice of Head Coach for the upcoming transitional period will be an indicator of where our ambitions lie. If we go for someone like Harrison, we'll be seen as accepting our ongoing status as a club that has no real aspirations to bother the top 8, but one that's happy to be plucky underdogs, picking up the odd win here and there.
Conversely, if we dig deep and secure someone like Gentle, WTW will look like an altogether different animal - we'll be demonstrating ambition, go-forward and modernity. Imagine us at NM with Gentle at the helm and Tony Drury as his assistant?
This is a vital appointment; if we get it wrong, the 3 year reprieve that AG and his team achieved for us will be utterly pointless.

And if we are gonna push the boat out financially for anyone the coach has to be high on the list for me

[Not really its called speculation, I'm sure every one on here has a preference and for some they are just voicing their opinion against someone else's choice.
To all those who say well if it's him I'm not buying a season ticket "=#FF0000GET A GRIP Give the club and the new coach a chance before slagging them off ffs.
[
There was only one, and that was probably a knee jerk reaction to the suggestion of Harrison, not my favourite either as it appears so with others on here, but our reaction was less dramatic than his, I'm not his agent and can't speak for him personally but I'm sure he did not mean it literally.
They saved our club.
They are making decent signings for next year.
So they need our support no matter what.
[Correct, and correct again, and they are getting our support 100% of it or near enough, human nature being what it is, you cannot please all of the people all of the time, but at least they are trying we just need to be patient and trust them to do what they think is best not forgetting if its attainable, it won't happen though the patience I mean.'"

| I don't know if he is being diplomatic or not, but Karl Harrison has said the rumours of him coming to Wakefield are rubbish.

| The think is with Harrison is that he runs a successful business as well as coaching Batley and he would have to give that up to take over a Super League club.
