Quote: Fully "You believe what you want to believe.
Whether you like it or not the funding had been identified and things were in place in 2007 when OPP was given. Then the economy hit, values went down, have not really recovered since. Mitigating factors have hit us a lot and as has been said, we have a major asset. You wouldn't sell it on the cheap just because you have to. You'd sell it when you want to sell it, for as much money as possible to make the club as strong as possible.
And no, all funding had been identified not "some" as you put it. The issue lies with selling The Jungle as it was then and the Chemical licence from Hicksons. Had that been done three years ago, we wouldn't be discussing this now.
Anyway, it's pointless going over old ground, I really don't want to discuss it again paricularly as it's been done to death. The Wakefield fans are going to vilify RW, the Cas fans are going to do the opposite. RW has merely been guilty of his own self-belief based on circumstances, which have changed, obstacles have been thrown up and that has delayed things. It happens in construction, it happens in planning. Nothing ever goes smoothly.'"
I agree it's been done to death so my last word on it for now,
Both of the quotes I posted are from late 2010 which was long after the recession hit and RW knew Wheldon Rd wasn't going to sell for nearly enough.
My beef isn't with you or Cas fans or Castleford RLFC but with the inequity of the sarcasm levelled at Trinity's new owner in comparison with RW who's track record on delivery is atrocious. His statements though largely well intentioned are naive at best and intentionally deceitful at worst, my nature is such that I hope the former is true.
Good luck to Castleford, I would genuinely love it if both stadiums get built and we see each other in a 15 team SL for the next 3 years. Then Roll on another 80 odd years of proper derby rivalry in which the City gets the upper hand over the Town
