Quote RichieWarlord="RichieWarlord"The meeting was an enjoyable evening, but I don't think there was too much actual information or news that came out of it. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I was scratching my head afterwards as to what I had hoped for that won't be given to us on June 8th instead.
Some questions I have now about the trust, maybe someone on here can answer them if possible?
Is the ST supposed to be a uniter of all the supporters factions/groups etc.. or an umbrella organisation for them each to co-exist and continue as before? i.e. separate coach trips with different groups to away games, etc...? Surely now is the time to scrap the politics of the past and unite under a new regime and future?
Apart from having the ear of the Management of the club, what is the role of the ST now? At the first meeting I know people were looking to get a step into the club due to the uncertainty and lack of action in the club and doubts of the stability of it. Now we have that stability, hope, etc... what are the main aims of the club if no board place is available.'"
To answer your questions:
The Trust would like to unite all supporters groups and ideally that would see just a single group. However we are a democratic organisation and if the groups wish to retain their identities and work under the umbrella of the Trust then thats better than them not being involved with the Trust at all. Its early days and its fair to say that the Trust will evolve and you cannot sort everything overnight. I think the Club made it clear that they only wish to deal with a single organisation and that will be the Trust.
The aim of owning and controlling shares with a view to having a seat on the Board remains an aim of the Trust and is laid down in our Rules. Andrew Glover has stated that he will not be offering shares in the Club so there is not a great deal we can do about that at the moment but who knows, that situation could change if the Club looks to secure new investment and if it does we want to be in a position to acquire shares and have a stake in the Club.
The main aims of the Trust at the moment is to be the conduit for open and honest communication between the Club and the Supporters and to work in partnership with the Club to achieve a sucessful and sustainable future.
Remember the Trust is owned by its Members and they dictate how the Trust is run. The current interim Board will all stand down at the AGM and democratic elections will take place in order to establish the Board who will then take the Trust forward. The Trust will be a democratic organisation and Board members will be accountable to the Membership and can be removed if the Members so wish. It will not become a "clique" with Board Members having "inside information", "free tickets" etc. - if it does then I for one will have nothing to do with it. Board Members are no different to any Member of the Trust and will not receive any privilages - they are servants of the Trust.
There is a new "feelgood factor" at the Club and a feeling that we are going places. The Trust can be very much involved in this process but we need to have as many members as possible. The more members we have the louder our voice and the more the Club will engage with us. We are a new organisation and whilst last night in my opinion was a success there is still a great deal of work to be done.
As a previous poster has said, the Revolution has begun, we need to be part of it and for that we need your support in big numbers - I sincerely hope we receive it.
Hopefully that answers your questions but if you have any more feel free to ask but not tonight - I'm off to bed.
