after how many hits he took, i find it hardly suprising that smith had a woeful performance, however i do think that he will improve under john kear - smith had two poor seasons at salford probably because he was playing under McRae?

I thought Smith did not take on the line and looked really rusty..whether thats down to match practice i dont know.
Think he should be in reserves to get match fit and Harvey (who we were trying to sign pre-season) should feature next week hopefully and hyde if back tends to be busy in the halfbacks.
That said i will still back smith for the time being. His first game.
